The battle against poverty is continuing but have fallen short of the MDGs target to get rid of extreme hunger by 2015. There are countries that the report increased cases of malnutrition and death as a result of lack for food and other necessities. Moreover, cases of mothers and child death have been increasing, and women continue to suffer due to gender violence (NBCNEWS, 2013). According to the U.N secretary general the challenges of poverty can be addressed, but only if people agree to the plan of action on how to meet the phenomena poverty, disease and ignorance (NBCNEWS, 2013).
